DM VCSELs (Directly Modulated Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Lasers) are at the core of high-speed optical communication systems, offering compact size and high performance. To enhance the efficiency of Bandwidth-Variable Transmitters (BVTs), we developed a model that captures the dynamic behavior of VCSELs under varying conditions.
📌 What’s Inside the Model?
🔹 Incorporates laser rate equations to simulate photon emission, carrier recombination, and temperature effects.
🔹 Predicts modulation dynamics of commercially available VCSELs.
🔹 Defines key relationships between carrier density (N), photon density (S), optical phase (𝜙), and temperature (T).
