Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) is a game-changer for physical-layer security. But to unlock its full potential in real-world networks, we need flexibility—dynamic adaptability to ever-changing network conditions.

At the University of Bristol, we’ve tackled this challenge head-on by developing two novel reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexers (q-ROADMs):

🔹 Coexistence q-ROADM – Enables seamless integration of QKD and classical data channels, ensuring quantum and conventional communication can operate together.

🔹 Entanglement q-ROADM – Facilitates dynamic entanglement distribution, making QKD networks more flexible and scalable for multi-user environments.

By enabling real-time network reconfiguration across time and wavelength domains, these innovations bring us closer to practical, resilient, and scalable quantum networks.

Excited to share more soon—stay tuned! 🚀🔑💡
