Highlights:

  • Presented a novel 6D-MAN tool that supports seamless migration of metro-urban optical networks to multi-band architectures.
  • Demonstrated how strategic deployment of L-band equipment, alongside C-band, allows extended network capacity with minimal infrastructure changes.
  • Simulation outcomes show:
    • 60% reduction in fiber length
    • 45% decrease in required new fiber-pair links
    • Long-term OPEX savings of ~71% and total cost reductions of 17–27% over a decade

This research significantly advances the design of next-generation, high-capacity, cost-efficient optical networks—critical to the deployment of reliable 6G services in dense urban environments.
