Highlights:

  • Demonstrates the application of SDN control to dynamically reconfigure programmable photonic devices—transceivers, amplifiers, ROADMs—paving the way for network autonomy.
  • Introduces a complete architectural stack: from SDN agents using extended OpenConfig models, to an impairment-aware path computation engine coupled with an MQTT-based telemetry platform.
  • Validates a closed-loop adaptation framework for agile, resilient optical networking capable of responding to changing traffic and conditions in real time.

This work exemplifies the Allegro EU Project’s commitment to building next-generation optical infrastructures that are intelligent, flexible, and adaptive.
