“A Measurement Device Independent Quantum Key Distribution protocol in the service of three users”
🔗 Access the preprint: https://arxiv.org/abs/2504.06902
Key Contributions:
- Extends Measurement Device Independent (MDI) QKD from two to three users, enabling simultaneous key distribution among multiple parties.
- Users each send phase-encoded coherent pulses to a central measurement unit (MU) composed of beam splitters and detectors.
- When all three pulses arrive simultaneously and detection succeeds, at least one pair of users can derive a secure key bit.
- Builds upon the foundational MDI-QKD scheme (e.g. Tamaki et al., 2012) with new considerations for error and implementation trade-offs.
This work further advances the vision of multi-user, secure quantum communication networks within the Allegro EU project.
