Key Highlights:

  • Proposes a spatially disaggregated framework to accurately model cross-channel interference (XCI) in dispersion-managed optical links used for coherent transmission.
  • Highlights how coherent accumulation of XCI across spans with inline dispersion compensation can be effectively modelled for real-time network planning and digital-twin support.
  • Demonstrates potential for capacity gains on legacy infrastructure by better understanding and mitigating XCI effects in disaggregated network segments.

This work strengthens the Allegro EU Project’s contribution to high-fidelity physical-layer modelling for next-generation optical networks.
