“Optimization of Router Cost and Consumption in a Point-to-Multipoint Metro-Core Architecture,” Paper W2A.45.
🔗 Access the paper: https://doi.org/10.1364/OFC.2025.W2A.45
Highlights:
- Demonstrates how router consolidation and use of coherent point-to-multipoint (P2MP) transceivers in the metro-core can yield substantial savings in both capital cost and operational power.
- Shows that by placing routing fabrics deeper in the metro-core and aggregating traffic via P2MP light-trees, the number of active routers can be significantly reduced—reducing both cost and consumption.
- Provides design guidelines for future metro-core network architectures aiming for high capacity, low energy, and cost-efficiency.
