Highlights:
- Provides the first comprehensive experimental characterisation of converged metro + access network segments using coherent transceivers and ROADMs at the metro/access interface.
- Demonstrates net data rates of 200 G and 400 G per wavelength through scenarios involving high distribution network loss and multiple ROADMs in the access segment.
- Analyses key physical-layer constraints such as optical distribution network (ODN) loss, ROADM insertion loss, tight optical filtering and available OSNR, identifying the boundaries for deployment in PON-level splits.
