Appearing in Journal of Optical Communications and Networking, Vol. 17, pages A87-A95 (2025).
In this work we present:

  • The concept of a Layer-1 software-defined optical network tailored for AI/HPC clusters
  • Two key application scenarios: failure-resilience via optical circuit switches (OCSs) and dynamically reconfigurable topologies for deep-learning workloads
  • Experimental results from a DGX-based testbed, plus simulation analysis for scalable deep-learning training in AI clusters
This article contributes to the growing body of work at the intersection of optical interconnects, data-center networking, and next-generation computing systems.
