A new article published in the Journal of Optical Communications and Networking presents MoleNetwork, a methodology for generating realistic optical network topologies to support techno-economic analysis.
The proposed framework enables researchers and network planners to move beyond oversimplified synthetic graphs by incorporating structural and geographical properties observed in real optical networks. This approach improves the reliability of cost modeling, capacity planning, and performance evaluation in optical transport systems.
