We are pleased to share our latest research, “Analytical Model for Filtering Impact Estimation of Coherent Systems with Finite-Length Equalizer”, presented at ONDM 2025.
In this work:
- We derive an analytical model that captures how cascaded filtering and finite-tap equalizers affect the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and overall performance of coherent optical systems.
- We validated the model via numerical simulations under a variety of filtering conditions and equalizer tap-lengths, finding a maximum estimation error of approximately 0.1 dB.
- The model presents a practical tool for network designers and system planners to evaluate filtering penalties without resorting to full time-domain simulation.
